This project involved data collection and model development, public outreach and consensus building, and planning coordination analysis. The data collection included assisting in preparing PlanSmart NJ’s GOZ Model to use in Somerset County. PlanSmart NJ prepared a draft County Profile and Trends / Issues Report, which presents data for three major systems (economy, transportation, and environment), highlights significant trends, and identifies key policy issues. The outreach activities included working with a project Steering Committee and sub-area advisory groups, conducting focus group sessions, and participating in community events. This project laid the groundwork for Phases II and III, which will include analyzing alternative development scenarios, preparing a county strategic plan, and developing an implementation agenda.
