Monmouth County
In April 2005, PlanSmart NJ began work on our third smart growth regional planning project. We are part of the project team for Monmouth County’s Bayshore Regional Strategic Development / Redevelopment Plan, funded by a state Smart Future Planning Grant.
This project is a collaborative planning effort, involving the ten towns along the Raritan Bayshore, which will develop strategies and policies to address collective local concerns and provide the analytical foundation for receiving State Plan Endorsement for the region. Key planning issues in the study area included downtown revitalization, redevelopment, transportation and transit, and environmental protection.
PlanSmart NJ assisted in analyzing current land use, economic, and infrastructure conditions, identifying potential areas for future development and redevelopment, formulating and evaluating alternative planning scenarios, and facilitating public outreach.
Salem County
PlanSmart NJ has prepared an existing zoning build-out analysis for Salem County Planner Rukenstein Associates and will developed and tested alternative future land use scenario based upon smart growth principles. The County envisions using this analysis for several objectives including documenting consistency with the New Jersey State Plan, preparing a countywide open space plan, and possibly assisting in developing a Transfer of Development Rights program.
